Academic Chair, Electrical Trades

The MacPhail School of Energy is the only energy school in Canada, and we are charting a new course with a focus on sustainable energy sources and practices. MacPhail School of Energy provides hands-on, industry-guided training in labs that mimic job site environments, giving students the skills needed to find a rewarding career in the energy sector.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Associate Dean, the Academic Chair will lead activities related to the Electrical Trades portfolio in the MacPhail School of Energy. This Portfolio consists of 4 programs: Electrician, Appliance Service Technician, Electric Motor Systems Technician, and Pre-Employment Electrician. You will collaborate on school and institutional initiatives in connection to SAIT’s Strategic Plan and Education Plan, in the areas of program growth, student success, employee engagement, and applied education and partnerships. In addition to leading a team of talented faculty, you will work with a team of laboratory technicians to maintain critical labs. You will also manage key relationships with Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training, and partners in industry. Additionally, the Academic Chair must lead and support a culture of evidence based continuous improvement.

Salary range: $120,098.48
Paid Leave: 4 Weeks Vacation / 14 Flex Days per year
